Trucking Authority Permits
TexasTruckPermits.com can help trucking companies of various sizes and experience levels. Here are just a few Texas trucking permits and requirements that you need to start your trucking company, including guidance on how to get new trucking authority in Texas.
Corporation or DBA
In order to start your company, you need to first get a corporation or DBA. An LLC can protect your personal assets from lawsuits brought against your company and saveyou money on taxes. If you have a DBA, we can help transfer your trucking authority to a new LLC.
MCS-150 (DOT #)
All carriers must obtain a USDOT number. This form must be updated every two years to maintain compliance with the regulations. TexasTruckPermits.com fills out the 10 page long application and ensures there are no mistakes. For Hazardous Material Carriers, we use the MCS-150B form that includes the Hazmat Permit Application.
Interstate Operating Authority (MC #)
Before hauling interstate loads, you must obtain your MC number. This application is several pages long and requires different information about your business to be filled out. Our team at TexasTruckPermits.com saves you time and ensures accuracy by completing the many necessary forms for your business setup.
BOC-3
All truckers for hire must file a BOC-3 form with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) before Authority will be issued.
Insurance
Carriers are required to obtain Liability and Cargo insurance. Carriers need to obtain insurance within the first two weeks after your MC/USDOT number is filed to avoid any delays with the FMCSA processing your authority. After the first 60 days, your authority can be dismissed if you fail to get insurance on file. If you do not obtain your insurance after a year, it will cause you to have to start the authority process over again as well as repay all applicable fees.
It is recommended you get $1,000,000 liability and a $100,000 Cargo policy
TexasTruckPermits.com’s partnered insurance company can help you get affordable insurance and insurance financing.
